The rise of the macarons

It seems like whatever I eat or do in Singapore follows me back home to Malaysia. 
One of the food that followed me back was macarons.

A lot of people get the spelling wrong.

It is spelled with only ONE 'o.'
Macaroon, spelt with two 'o' s are entirely different from the colourful macarons we have been consuming.

"The two terms refer to distinctly different things. Both macarons and macaroons are confections, and both names are derived from ammaccare, which is Italian for "to crush" — but that's where the similarities end."
