Few months ago my house had nothing to eat so usually an emergency meal at my home is to cook two packets of maggie goreng.
No, it's not your typical mamak style maggie goreng alright. If its that normal I will not post this as a random post. Lol.
Its my own version of maggie goreng and I tend to.. overdone things. Slight!
Oh, when I finished cooking, my sister decided to come back and brought back leftovers from Tony Roma's. How delightful!
So, to revamp the whole look, I made two hard boiled eggs as well and here it goes to look after everything is thrown in;
The yellow color sauce on the hard boiled eggs is Tony Roma's mustard sauce. Definitely Yum-yum to go with everything in here.
And it is a complete meal with vegetables, eggs, carbohydrates, and meat. :D
Hope you feel hungry.
P.s: Not everyone can consume this much of food so some may perceive as excessive. :p

Food Foundry 21 09 2012
Hello hello everyone and good evening.
Le me shall announce as the first post done by me in this collaborated blog with le friends.
So on the date as mentioned above, four friends and I have met up and decided to go to a place which I have never heard before (but was claimed by my other friends that this place was a to-look-out and was covered by quite a number of bloggers). Since it was my first time, and according to my trustworthy friends, it was rather a good place (odd location though) served with good food. Heard that the mille crepe cakes were the main attractions.
Located in the hot area or should I say rather a secluded and odd (like I said earlier) in SS17, pretty much hidden within a neighbourhood with flats. You'd never expect a place that kind of fancy dandy to be located ina low cost flats neighborhood. To get there, we got lost and missed a few turning, which led to my friend took a very illegal and dangerous maneuvering of the car to do a quick 3 point turn.
Funnily, the cafe is divided into two parts (like literally) and to get to the crepe cakes (no, we weren't sitting at the side where the crepe cakes were), we had to walk out of the cafe, choose the cakes we want and walk back to the other side of the cafe. Odd much again.
I only managed to take our side of the cafe because my camera battery decided to go low after not charging it for two days. Meh.
Okay. To the menu, because all of us were pretty much hungry that time.
We were given the menus, in old style diner notebook style, which reminds me of waiter's book to jot down menu. Looks like this time terbalik.
We ordered our own respective dishes accordingly, however the waiter's service disappointed me because he made two mistakes. Firstly, when a person usually orders a pasta, naturally in your mind there will be a few selections of the types of pastas you can choose to compliment your pasta delights. But no, when he took down my menu, he did not ask for my pasta preference and just walked off.
Hoping he'll realize his mistakes and come back to me (Celine Dion's song at the background), there's the second mistake he did. He did NOT came back.
Instead, he bluntly serve my pasta in spaghetti type and walked off. Perhaps he was not too happy since the restaurant does not charge for service and government taxes.
Speaking of price, in my honest opinion, with the overall value I see in the pasta as served to me, I do not think RM19 was worth to pay. Plus, I am not full (nor nausea from having too much cream on my alfredo).
Well, I got curious for the better to understand what is the distinct difference between alfredo and carbonara sauces so I went to look up in Google to get the comparison.

Thank you for the time reading and hope I'll drop by another review soon. :)

Spot one of the bloggers' head? :p |
One of the paintings around the wall |
The divider is adorned with some clean cut, chic decorations which you can usually see in fashion interior design magazines and blogs. |
Some mini decorations on every table |
One of the bloggers on action! Checking in on Foursquare that is! xD |

The actual size on the ratio compared to the plate served. Quite a small portion to me. |
Original portion of the pasta VS the plate size. |
Well, I got curious for the better to understand what is the distinct difference between alfredo and carbonara sauces so I went to look up in Google to get the comparison.
What is great to find out that my alfredo is supposed to be served with fettucine pasta! The exact pasta I wanted to compliment my sauce but the waiter decided to be ignorant about it. Heh.
Anyway, to the dessert corner.
Selection of mille crepe and different cakes available |
The price is somewhat expected for a fad food like this. |
As recommended by tripadvisor. I'm not one of them though. Lol. |
This cake appeals to me, but for a slice with that price, I can eat two big bowls of meehoon soup and have a change. |
Tyng opted for the Apricot Mille Crepe. RM11 |
Andrew opted for Chocolate Mille Crepe. RM9 |
Me and Wei Ying decided to have a fair share at Vanilla Mille Crepe. RM9. |
The winning piece? Me and Wei Ying's. You know why? Because of its fresh, distinctive taste of vanilla, cool bitten into your mouth and the layering of the vanilla scent compliments to the not-so-sweet, just nice sweetness level. One of the most satisfying mille crepe cake I have eaten/tried.
Chocolate was a bad choice though, poor Andrew. Haha.
Tyng's mille crepe wasn't bad either, if you like apricots(which is hard to get by anywhere nowadays), you can always opt for hers.
All in all, this place ranks so-so to me, I had a little too high expectations when I heard reviews from my friends so you would say I am rather dissapointed.
On the bright side, this cafe does not charge service and government tax, so you save 16% off your overall bill.
Free wi-fi service and in my opinion, just gives them the advantages to let their customers do the free promotion for them, as offered by many cafes nowadays.
You can locate them at;
Address: BG8 Happy Mansion,, Jalan 17/13, 46400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

Lunch hours maybe a little pack so I'd
suggest to come by here for a tea time chat with friends or perhaps
dinner for the ambiance.

The rise of the macarons
It seems like whatever I eat or do in Singapore follows me back home to Malaysia.
One of the food that followed me back was macarons.
A lot of people get the spelling wrong.
It is spelled with only ONE 'o.'
Macaroon, spelt with two 'o' s are entirely different from the colourful macarons we have been consuming.
Images are from Google.
Macaroon (double O)
vs
Macaron (single O)
"The two terms refer to distinctly different things. Both macarons and macaroons are confections, and both names are derived from ammaccare, which is Italian for "to crush" — but that's where the similarities end."
You can read more in the following links:
Or you can just Google macarons and macaroons to find out more.

Mango Series Dessert - Hui Lau Shan @ Leisure Mall Cheras ,KL
Opened at Leisure Mall last 7th September 2012.
Located at Cravings Lane , L1-48-2.
This is the history about the shop.
Hui Lau Shan won a few awards.
The desserts are divided into 6 categories:
- Fruitties Icy Series
- Mango Mania Series
- Fruitties Combo Series
- Nourish Deluxe Series
- Fruitties Jeli Series
- Delicacy Snack Series
Their signature series is the Mango Mania Series.
Fresh mango mochi is
one of my favorite food in this shop.
This mochi taste is just nice, not too sweet. I can feel the mango
freshness and the taste of the mango is very original too.
It cost RM4.90++
Mango Icy Sago Pomelo that my aunt ordered, she complained
this dessert is quite watery & not very nice.
It cost RM11.90++
This is their signature mango series in their menu called "Mango Romance".
It comes with three different types of dessert.
From top left of the picture is mango ice cream with jelly,
bottom left of the picture is mango mochi with mangoes
& right of the picture is mango icy with sweetie balls.
Overall of this set taste very good.
It cost RM12.90++
Mango Feast is another set of combination three bowl.
Top of the bowl is mango walnut ice cream,
middle bowl is mango icy with sweetie balls
& bottom bowl is coconut jelly with mango ice cream.
It cost RM12.90++
However, I still prefer "Mango Romance"
maybe because I like the pureness of the mango.
My brother ordered mango cube & mango juice- mango jelly & this drink is very delicious.
Not too watery & the taste is not very sweet.
It cost RM7.90++
I'm a fan of this mango icy sago. For me this is quite watery & I can find a better one for this honestly. It cost at RM9.90++
Aside from the Mango series desserts, Hui Lau Shan have been selling herbal jelly since 1960's.
This is one of the best sellers in the shop & my grandpa said the taste is quite normal for him.
It cost RM7.90++

A&W PJ Drive In
If you have felt that A&W is disappearing, you are not hallucinating.
The A&W outlets in Malaysia are closing down one by one.
You can read this article to find out why:
KUB to exit fast-food biz by year-end

Andrew and I decided that we should dine in A&W while there are still a few outlets open.
We asked Amelia to come along too.
I like the A&W in PJ because they have the diner feel.
Very classic.
They even have the drive-thru signboard.
The signboard says that you can drive-in and it's open for 24 hours.
There were lots of people flocking A&W that night.
We could see families and couples dining.
Almost no parking spaces.
If you have children on tow with you, you can let them sit on some of the rides available outside the diner.
If I am not mistaken, it costs 50 cents.
I saw a grandfather letting his grandchild sit on the ride.
His grandpa went inside to ask how much the ride costs and I overhead :P
Lovely grandpa!
Here are some of the things that you can see once you enter the diner.
I made it look a bit classic. :P
The original colour!
My dad said when he started working in KL years ago (when he was still a young man and I'm not sure whether he married my mum yet. LOL), he always ate the coney dogs.
From this we know that this diner is OLD!
There's some history in this building.
Imagine all the good times and bad times people could have experienced in here.
Of course we have the famous mascot!
I find it interesting that we order and pay for everything at the counter and then we wait for our waffles at another station.
It saves time and keeps the crowd moving.
Try to spot Andrew (for those who met him before XD) in the picture below.
The waffle and ice-cream station! |
The three of us shared a large root beer float, curly fries (I love them) and an ice-cream waffle.
The root beer tasted flat. It was like it was not carbonated anymore.
The ice-cream was already melting when it was handed over to us at the counter.
Usually it would look round and solid.
Something wrong with the ice box that night probably.
Anyway, it was still an enjoyable drink.
The fries was awesome and crunchy when it was still warm.
This branch still serves the best A&W waffles.
It was vanilla ice-cream with Hershey's chocolate syrup.
We find that the chocolate syrup tasted more authentic than the strawberry syrup.
Once, I ordered butter and maple syrup waffles in another A&W branch that resembled a fish to me.
I used lines and circles to help all of us see what I saw.
It reminded me of Flounder, the yellow fish from The Little Mermaid.
From our seat, we saw an old picture of A&W.
Look at that!
Hot dogs were only 10 cents in the US at that time.
Root beer was 5 cents.
The receipt below showed how much we spent that night.
If you're wondering whether A&W is halal, it is.
Free Wifi is also provided.
Best to have your fill of A&W before they are gone from Malaysia forever!
