Chinoz On The Park @ KLCC

Since I just finished my practicum, I have some time to blog about food. My family and I finally got the opportunity to try the food in Chinoz On The Park in KLCC. We went there for breakfast.

They serve breakfast buffet but they also have a la carte meals as well. It is also halal. When we sat down, no one came to give us the menu. We waited for some time with waiters walking all around our table. In the end, I asked a waiter for one and then only it came.

I did not take pictures of the buffet because it was not appealing to me. :P I saw cakes, cereals, fruits, yogurt, nasi lemak... well, it was breakfast time. Next time I'll go during lunch time.

Not to worry, the food was good as well. My dad said it was cheaper and better than Domes. So there you go. Large portions as well.

My sister and dad ordered English Breakfast. It costs RM 28 for one, and comes with coffee or tea.

English Breakfast, RM 28

There are eggs, sausages, baked beans, 5 cherry tomatoes, fried mushrooms (which was juicy and yummy. Dad said it's English style so yeah English Breakfast), ham and a crust of bread. My dad said it's supposed to be served with bacon, not ham.

The English cook their tomatoes until it's mushy, which I didn't like. My dad also told about his experience eating breakfast in London when he was in a residential college, telling us how the English cook their meals.

I had time to play with their food too. See what I saw XD

I ordered Mascarpone Cheese Pancakes with an assortment of fruits. I cannot recall the exact full name of the dish. I love the taste of mascarpone cheese! Yum yum. It costs RM 18.

There are 2 slices of fluffy pancakes, peaches, blackberries, honeydew, blueberries, strawberries and mascarpone cheese. Berry berry full. Berry berry delicious. I would order this again. I even ate cherry tomatoes because my sister do not like tomatoes. XD

My drink was called the Eye Opener. They blend oranges, strawberries and carrots. It costs RM 15.

Tokyo Pasta Mario in 313@Somerset

Hi guys. Ever since I hit the maximum photo upload quota, I feel very lazy to blog because it took a longer time to complete a blog post. It has become a hassle of some sort. If you guys have any simpler photo host to recommend, please let my friends and I know. I am using Flickr and it is a pain.

Anyway this is the Singapore post which got delayed.

My family and I went to 313@Somerset and ate in this shop called Tokyo Pasta Mario. Sounds like a n arcade game no?

You can choose to sit at the counter or you can look for more tables and chairs at the back. At the back, there's a long table. That was where I sat.

Look at this HUGE plate on display. The plates on the left are the regular sizes.

20121203_171018
I took the menu for everyone! XD On the bottom left corner, you can see the Spicy Choice and the notice that says their curry contains pork.

There is curry for everyone. You can choose the level of spiciness for your curry. There are 5 types of spicy: Normal Hot, Extra Hot, Very Hot, Super Hot, Monster Hot. All of us chose Normal Hot.

Once you order, you'll get the familiar UFO. When it blinks or flickers red, it means your dishes are ready to be collected.

fish
Fish Fillet Curry,  S$ 8.80

This is Fish Fillet Curry. It costs S$ 8.80. It was nice and all-meat. However I don't really fancy the salad dressing. The salad dressing did not taste like thousand island and was very sour for me.

chic
Chicken Katsu Curry,  S$ 9.80

The next dish is Chicken Katsu Curry. It costs S$ 9.80. The fried chicken is not oily and done just nice. Juicy meat with yummy rice! Om nom nom! The curry got salty for me after awhile but it is alright when eaten with rice and the chicken meat. There is pork inside the curry so it is not halal.

cheese
Cheese Chicken Katsu Curry,  S$ 10.80

My cousin ordered Cheese Chicken Katsu Curry. It costs S$ 10.80. When it came to the table with Chicken Katsu Curry, we could not differentiate which was with cheese. We decided to taste the meat from each dish but it both tasted the same and we could not taste the cheese! Both of the dishes tasted the same so we just chose a plate and got on with eating.

pork
Pork Katsu Curry,  S$ 9.80

The Pork Katsu Curry costs S$ 9.80. My dad said it was nice.

Cheese Omelette Curry,  S$ 9.80

My sister ordered Cheese Omelette Curry. It also costs S$ 9.80. This dish has only pork meat in the curry. She finished eating all the curry on her plate.

Tamayaki Yummy Yummy @ Sunway Pyramid

Takoyaki! I had been craving for it and I got it satisfied that day in Sunway Pyramid. My sister told me about this new takoyaki shop near the ice skating rink so we decided to check it out. We usually buy the takoyaki in Asian Avenue.

20121201_120238

The new takoyaki shop is called Tamayaki Yummy Yummy. Do not be surprised or taken aback when the workers suddenly say "Yummy yummy!" while working. It's like the workers in Uniqlo greeting you "Welcome to Uniqlo!"

20121201_120259

This is what they have to say about their shop,

"TAMAYAKI (弹丸滋地) offers quality Takoyaki. Our Takoyaki are the combination of traditional Japanese recipe prepared via patented induction heating device.

By carefully combining ingredients and flavours from various countries, we have successfully created different flavours of Takoyaki suitable to local palates. TAMAYAKI is an enhanced version of the traditional Takoyaki.

Our delicious Takoyaki has a ...distinctive crispy exterior with juicy and tender fillings."
These were the said flavours.
You can see a better, clearer and neater menu by clicking Menu. It's in their FB Page.

From mon-yan

My sisters and I ordered Chicken Sausage and Cheese flavour
One box costs RM 6.90

The difference between this shop and the shop in Asian Avenue is the number of takoyaki balls served.
Here in Tamayaki, they serve four while the one in Asian Avenue serve three.

After placing our order, we would be given a plastic chip. This plastic chip is our number.

Our snacks were served in neat pink boxes. I like the packaging. Cute and portable. It also comes with the pink plastic fork.

And the inside looks like this!

20121201_120430

Taste wise, I personally like the ones served in Asian Avenue. This takoyaki in Tamayaki is not as crunchy and the taste was very mild for me. No ooomph like when I chomp the ones served in Asian Avenue. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. Just not as I expected.

Will I go back? Yeah, I guess I would try the other flavours and I'll let you know through this blog XD

Mickey Mouse sushi

This is the second part of the sushi story!

The previous post was Hello Kitty and friends sushi. In this post, it's all about Mickey Mouse.

The ingredients and materials you'll need:
  • Japanese rice
  • Seaweed
  • Cheese
  • Carrots
  • The punchers (shown in picture below)
DSC_0142
These are to make the eyes, whiskers and mouths. What you do is, put in the seaweed and press.

That same day, Alfred attempted to make Mickey Mouse.
This was the end result.

030

What he did was roll the rice into balls with his hands. Then he used the punchers to make the eyes.
For the ears, I cut out seaweed circles. The three of us experimented using carrots for the noses and cheese for the mouths as well.

It was fun to make :)

Hello Kitty and friends sushi!

The two brothers: Andrew and Alfred (his brother) dug up their sister's sushi molds and decided to make sushi using the molds. I just pat gua. I want to do also. ;)

The materials you need:
  • Japanese rice
  • Sushi molds
  • Carrots
  • Cheese
  • Seaweed

These are the items we used:

The left are the 3 molds with handles. The heart shape plastic is to make the ribbon, flower, nose and ear. The bottom two punchers will be explained in the picture below.

These are to make the eyes, whiskers and mouths. What you do is, put in the seaweed and press.

You can get these items from the shop: Xuanie's Paradise

First, we need to cook the Japanese rice. Once it's done, we can mold the rice using the plastic molds.
Be careful because the rice is sticky and may be stuck (actually it will) in the mold. What we did to prevent this was by rubbing the insides of the mold with vinegar before we stuff the rice into the mould.

We used seaweed to make the eyes, whiskers and mouths for the respective characters using the punchers. Punch them into a plate or bowl so you won't be missing any part of the body :P You'll be eating lots of seaweed while doing this.

To place the eyes, whiskers, noses and mouths on the sushi rice easily, use two toothpicks. One to pick the seaweed up, and another to readjust.

For the ribbons and flower, we used carrots. For the nose and ears, we used cheese. Yep, you'll be making the sushi and snacking at the same time.

The before and after:

The sushi on the bottom right: It's a bear wearing spectacles. Well, kind of.

Yeah we didn't only do Hello Kitty.
We improvised a little and made a bear using the heart mold too.

If you noticed, I did an evil face sushi too.
I did not plan to make the sushi that way but it did. I was trying to use up leftover carrots and it resulted with this...

DSC_0151

I have an Amelia Earhart sushi too.
A sushi wearing goggles.
Ok, it seems displeased. XD I tried to make it smile but it did not turn out that way.

At the end of the day, we packaged all the sushi into plastic containers to give away to our friends and for me to bring back home for my sisters :D

Ichiban Boshi @ Pavilion

Brought my dad here because I wanted him to try the Japanese Bibimbap I ate in the Sunway Giza branch. However, the branch in Pavilion serves a different menu... they don't have the bibimbap... tak apa makan aje!

I tried the Cheese Doria Gozen. It costs RM 21.90. It looks small but looks can be deceiving, and it's cheese and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Inside it is chicken meat and rice. The cheese is sweet/ milky for me. I don't know if it'll be weird for you guys. Basically, a cheese baked rice :D

I like it :) The waitress will greet you by saying, "Enjoy your meal" when she serves the food. Haha!
