Tokyo Pasta Mario in 313@Somerset

Hi guys. Ever since I hit the maximum photo upload quota, I feel very lazy to blog because it took a longer time to complete a blog post. It has become a hassle of some sort. If you guys have any simpler photo host to recommend, please let my friends and I know. I am using Flickr and it is a pain.

Anyway this is the Singapore post which got delayed.

My family and I went to 313@Somerset and ate in this shop called Tokyo Pasta Mario. Sounds like a n arcade game no?

You can choose to sit at the counter or you can look for more tables and chairs at the back. At the back, there's a long table. That was where I sat.

Look at this HUGE plate on display. The plates on the left are the regular sizes.

I took the menu for everyone! XD On the bottom left corner, you can see the Spicy Choice and the notice that says their curry contains pork.

There is curry for everyone. You can choose the level of spiciness for your curry. There are 5 types of spicy: Normal Hot, Extra Hot, Very Hot, Super Hot, Monster Hot. All of us chose Normal Hot.

Once you order, you'll get the familiar UFO. When it blinks or flickers red, it means your dishes are ready to be collected.

fish
Fish Fillet Curry,  S$ 8.80

This is Fish Fillet Curry. It costs S$ 8.80. It was nice and all-meat. However I don't really fancy the salad dressing. The salad dressing did not taste like thousand island and was very sour for me.

chic
Chicken Katsu Curry,  S$ 9.80

The next dish is Chicken Katsu Curry. It costs S$ 9.80. The fried chicken is not oily and done just nice. Juicy meat with yummy rice! Om nom nom! The curry got salty for me after awhile but it is alright when eaten with rice and the chicken meat. There is pork inside the curry so it is not halal.

cheese
Cheese Chicken Katsu Curry,  S$ 10.80

My cousin ordered Cheese Chicken Katsu Curry. It costs S$ 10.80. When it came to the table with Chicken Katsu Curry, we could not differentiate which was with cheese. We decided to taste the meat from each dish but it both tasted the same and we could not taste the cheese! Both of the dishes tasted the same so we just chose a plate and got on with eating.

pork
Pork Katsu Curry,  S$ 9.80

The Pork Katsu Curry costs S$ 9.80. My dad said it was nice.

20121203_171933
Cheese Omelette Curry,  S$ 9.80

My sister ordered Cheese Omelette Curry. It also costs S$ 9.80. This dish has only pork meat in the curry. She finished eating all the curry on her plate.

Klang Curry Mee and Steamed Lala

Mmmh! What better meal for a cold weather like this to sip on hot, hot food? For curry mee lovers, this post I dedicate to you.

The last weekend I managed to go back to Klang (my second home) for a reunion with my good friend's sister. Although the time spent was cut short with me exploring Klang in just one day-one night trip, but I managed to grab the opportunity to see Setia City Mall in Setia Alam for the first time. Gawd, I love that place. it has every damn shops I want to shop. This shopping mall is my most complete sanctuary of shopping haven. Someone please bring me there again!

Aside of my obsession for shopping spree (always in the mood if I see something cheap, good and nice), I had my dinner as suggested by my dear friend to have curry mee and steamed lala.
Now, that is something new I hear for Klang food, aside from seafood and dry bak kut teh.

Situated in the Klang city (I think Klang City is a very busy place, especially in the afternoon, at night only you can see 'worker's roaming around for some extra service in the alleys where I'd make silly jokes with my friend if we'd pop their boobies with needles. Gawd. I know. I'm bad. My bad. :p). What I realised about Klang too is that they may have a street or few streets that remind me of Jalan Ampang and Brickfields. Like Little India. Lotsa stuffs going around. Wonder if they have indian banana leaf rice too? :D

Restoran Tsy. Reminds me of Psy. LOL. Wonder if this shop is managed by him, or his brother. Or if he has a brother :p

Photobomb fingers by my friend.

Curry mee for four! Actually this is a medium. You can call for a large one, which I think can fit for 4-5 people. Medium here looks big but there are three big eaters and one small eater so to me I wasn't feeling all that full that night. xD

You have to try this curry. This curry got me sweat face all over! Its spicy, creamy, powdery, hot and everything curry spicy thing going on! I was not a spicy and hot fan few years ago but I opened up to chillies, tom yam, curry and such in time to build up my spice taste buds for more exciting food tasting. Talk about food adventure! All for you readers! Muahaha! Its hard at first because I'd find spicy food so spicy to the extend that I could not breathe properly and once, I accidentally chewed on chilli padi, boy I could not feel my tongue for a good 30minutes. So numb! But now okay lah. Sweat banyak. I got laughed by my friends whom were half Thai-blooded. They're mocking my noob tolerance to spicy-ness. LOL. Oh well, gotta start somewhere ain't I? The curry mee has quite generous portion in terms of their stuffs added, mainly brinjals, long beans, prawns, tau foo pok, taugeh, pari fish, and onions.

Definitely one of the best steamed lalas I have ever tasted. I'm not really good at identifying good seafood because of my unwanted condition of not able to consume seafood, but I made this an exception. The soup/sauce/gravy is amazing. with ginger, garlic, chilli and I think they had some special wine to it and steamed to tender moist and perfection, you can't really stop eating it. The only setback on this dish was my friend's husband complained of the size of the lalas had shrunk tremendously. Also a tip given by him is that lalas must, must be eaten while they are hot and steamy. Sounds sexually explicitly wrong. Hahaha. Oh well, food is something like sex anyway. It is primary, biogenic needs, something that you need to satisfy in order to fulfill the satisfaction, otherwise, may create some uncomfortable tension. LOL. Here I go ranting about the lowest hierarchy of needs in Maslow's Theory. (This is what happens when a fashion student got excited over a marketing subject.)

Both yummy dishes for four that night.

Another shot on the steamed lalas.

They serve very fresh Carrot Milk too! Should try. If there is any sourness to it, insist on changing it immediately as the milk may have turned bad.

All in all, the cost of the overall food is about RM30, which I think was not too bad.

You can find this restaurant at;

Tsy Restaurant, Klang's Claypot Curry Mee
No.16, Jalan Goh Hock Huat, 41400, Klang, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

I think this opens only at night and available till about 12am. I had it around 10pm that night. So much for spiciness late night supper. ;)

P.s: Take note for those afraid of cockroaches, there are some flying ones here, which got me freaked out while eating. I guess it can't be helped with our consistent mates whenever there's good food around. They call it, 'ka liu'. LOL. Just kidd.

Cheers!

Teluk Intan-Ipoh x AJNH (Day 2)

Sorry it took me so long to post up another post. My bad for going out a bit too often to catch up with several of my friends and the energy has been fully utilized when I got back home. Lol.
Without further a-do, I shall present you my 2nd post on 2nd part of Teluk Intan food and first half of Ipoh food.

The following morning, we headed to Jalan Permaisuri, supposedly a famous street of food for breakfast which are available as early as 5am. Wow. We only got there at about 10.30am, which pretty much everything good was sold out and what was left were disappointing food. :/
If you noticed on the picture below, there are actually two rows of food stalls you can find, where there are several stalls selling the same type of food (laksa, curry mee, midnight chee cheong fun etc) and with different pricing. So, look out for the crowded stalls (when you go early) and survey all of the stalls first because some stalls may charge you more expensive for the same bowl of curry mee (as an example).

The stretch of food you can find at Jalan Permaisuri. Do take a look on both rows of stalls as some may sell the same food at different prices. Always believe in crowded stalls (only applicable if you come early at about 8am, I believe that's the time where good food still sells.)
That soya bean stall? Total disappointment. Although people may perceive a cup of soya bean at RM0.90 is cheap but once you sipped that cup, boy you wished to splash back that so-called soya bean drink to the seller. No taste at all and to be nice, maybe too much of ice in the container diluted the whole soya taste.

Close up of the soya bean drink. They sell tau foo far too but for a small bowl (I mean really small bowl (I did not manage to take the picture in time, my sister already took up the whole thing by then although it sucked)) for RM1.50. C'mon. The tau foo far selling at Petaling Street is sooo much better for the same price you pay.

Kali mee. Curry mee. RM3. Nah, nothing nice. The curry is not heavy on the santan side, but more on the curry powder side. Portion size is equivalent to the price you pay.

I'm sorry to say but I don't know the name of this dish. Apparently this is the signature dish from the stall we chose to sit down and pretty much ordered every of the dish they sell. RM3.50. The sauce really reminds me of a combination between a mamak rojak sauce and chee cheong fun 'cheong' sauce. The one in brown color? The sweet type? Yeah. Combine that both and you get the exact taste for this mee's sauce.

My Mee Jawa. LOL. I had to laugh because this does not taste like mee jawa at all. Or the least I tried was the Malay style Mee Jawa and its very different to what I tasted here. I think the sauce is entirely made out of tomato sauce because that's pretty much what I tasted. RM3.

The stall's name where we had all the food, except the drinks. Don't bother ordering their 'Fu Chuk Yi Mai'. Doesn't have any 'liew' (condiments), just the plain drink itself. :/

This is Char Siew Sticky Rice. One of TI's famous food. The yellow sticky rice is exactly like malay style nasi pulut and the only thing special is the char siew (sweet pork). But all I tasted are all pork fats. D:
One of the shops selling heong piah biscuits in TI town, nearby the slanting tower. We didn't buy from here as we think they are sold expensive.

This is the shop out of TI town that sells really good heong piah biscuits. It is called Sin Guan Hoe. The first night when we reached TI we tried to buy but it was sold out entirely by 7pm. :O We headed the next day to buy. One heong piah biscuit packet of 12 pieces cost RM4.90.

Sin Joo Heong heong peah biscuits. The tiger face I grew up with. Rawr!

Entrance of the shop. People buy a lot of heong peahs here. Lol. The packaging here is much nicer. One heong peah packet of 10 pieces cost RM4.90. When we went, the biscuits are packed and made freshly and on the spot.

Employees of Sin Joo Heong hard at work packing each heong peah in fancy packages

All ready to go!

This is my dad's friend's grocery store, just next to Sin Joo Heong. Drop by if you want to buy some ol' style 90's food and snacks here. It even sells the Jutaria (a copy Malaysian version of Monopoly at RM3! and several cool games like batu seremban and also penutup botol. :D The good ol' days.)
To feast your eyes. Have you played it before? :D

So, we kinda head off to Ipoh after our not-so-satisfying breakfast and stopped at Ipoh town for some yummy lunch.

We went to Wah Nam Restaurant for our lunch!

Don't be deceived by its pale color. This white coffee packs a punch of flavor and richness. RM1.50 for cold

Halfway eating. We ordered some Dim Sum as well, they were alright, nothing too great, the Wu Kok (Yam with Char Siew) and Char Siew Paus' however were good!

Hakka Mee. RM3.50. I like the noodles. Been always on a lookout for such noodles. The taste is alright. A bit too salty for me.

Dry Curry Hakka Mee! RM3.50 as well. Mine was much better compared to the Hakka Mee. The curry is rich and the siew yok (Chinese Crispy Roast Pork Belly) is good too. :)

Errr. Chicken Hor Fun. Very sad looking portion. This too costs RM3.50 per bowl.

Char Siew Pau. Very fresh, soft and fluffy. The bun is well made, hot when eaten, char siew inside was good too.
So, that's the end of my 2nd post on Teluk Intan-Ipoh trip.
Hope you guys are starving now. :p
The last post will cover my last night in Ipoh and I will be covering Cowan Street's Chicken and Keow Teow Restaurant.

Cheers!

Ichiban Boshi @ Sunway Giza

It was my two sisters' first time in Sunway Giza.
I wanted them to try out the fried rice in Coffee Chemistry Cafe but I did not realize they closed down :P
It shows that I have not eaten there for a long time.

Our next refueling station was Ichiban Boshi.
They are owned by RE&S and RE&S has many other businesses such as a bakery and other restaurants.

RES has four Ichiban Boshi outlets in Malaysia: in Pavilion, Sunway Giza, Publika Shopping Gallery and Setia City Mall.

The menu.
I was surprised to see bibimbap on the menu.
Curious, I decided to order it.
It's called Sizzling Curry Bibimbap.

The cost: RM 19.90

Inside the bibimbap, we have eggs, fish flakes, rice, chicken meat with Japanese curry.
Of course there are carrots and potatoes as well.
The miso soup was nice. I like it because it was not too salty.
I like this bibimbap because it fills me up!

My youngest sister ordered Ebi Fry Curry.
She loves prawns and Japanese curry :)
The dish costs RM 19.90 too.

As seen in the picture, it's ebi fry, rice and Japanese curry with carrots and potatoes.
My sister said it was alright but it was spicy for her.
My sisters and I have low tolerance for spiciness so most probably it will not be spicy for some of you. Heeeheeehee!

My other sister just picked dishes from the conveyor belt.
As usual, she took Tamago and Inari.

Each cost RM 2.00

For her, she said she preferred the Inari in Sushi Zanmai.
When it comes to the Tamago, she said she liked Ichiban Boshi's because the egg is sweeter.

A close up of the inari.

She even took egg mayo inari.
She said the best egg mayo inari for her would be the one in Sakae Sushi but she hasn't eaten there for A LONG TIME, so the one in Sakae Sushi may or may not be good now.

The egg mayo inari cost RM 4.00

Andrew ordered half-roasted salmon, which was why the colour looks like that.
Red plate costs RM 4.00

He said it's not bad.
He also added that he would prefer smoked salmon instead.

This time, we ordered desserts as well :D

I ordered Mousy Brownie to share.
It costs RM 8.90

I have tasted better brownies (the best was made by my friend's aunt! Unbeatable brownies!) but this was alright too.
It came with vanilla ice-cream and crushed nuts with a cherry on top.

My sister ordered another dessert called the Tempura ice-cream.
The name got all of us curious.
It cost RM 6.90

It was topped with strawberry syrup.
Inside, it was vanilla ice-cream as well.
It's like fried ice-cream but we didn't like it.
It was so-so.

The outer layer was not crispy.
It was like a biscuit that has been exposed to the air for some time.
My sister and I would prefer the outer layer to be warm too.
I guess the super cold ice-cream made everything else cold :P

We won't be trying this again but you guys can order it to try.
Maybe that time they'll make it good for you! XD

All of us ordered green tea.
Each costs RM 1.50.

I have a feeling they charged us for refill, also RM 1.50.
Either that or they keyed in my bill wrongly and I didn't double check this time!
Usually I do.
