Umai Bento House @ Kuchai Lama

It has been some time since my family came back to this restaurant to eat. This is what happens when everyone in the house is lazy to cook, but it's a bonus for you readers because I'll be eating out :P

Butter Chicken Set, RM 9.90

I ordered Butter Chicken Set. God knows why I ordered chicken, when I usually ordered fish. This dish costs RM 9.90. The set comes with a bowl of soup which I love because it's not super salty that you'll think twice about taking it in and a plate of fruit. I don't like it very much because I don't like cartilage in the meat.

If you want to try a good Butter Chicken rice, go to Rabbit Cafe in Seri Petaling (Near Saujana school).

When I was eating the tofu (bottom right of the picture), I spotted a small strand of hair.... umm.. eee. I left the tofu alone.

The plus side of this dish? There are a lot of chicken meat balls.

Tofu Minced Meat Set, RM 8.90

Twin number 1 ordered Tofu Minced Meat Set. This costs RM 8.90. It also comes with a bowl of soup and a plate of fruit. She said it was okay and she'll order it again.

Teppanyaki Fried Tofu with Egg, RM 11.90

Twin number 2 ordered Teppanyaki Fried Tofu with Egg. The price is RM 11.90. Again, it comes with a bowl of soup and fruit. She likes it and when asked if she would order it again, she said "I guess so." The tofu reminds me of my childhood. Back to the past. Whoosh!

Salted Egg Chicken Set, RM 9.90

Dad ordered Salted Egg Chicken Set. This dish costs RM 9.90. My dad said it's very filling and the egg was quite good.

Hot Longan & Winter Melon, RM 3.00

The drink I ordered was hot longan and winter melon. It costs RM 3.00. I like winter melon since I was young so I like this drink. For those who doesn't like sweet drinks, I don't think you'll favour this.

Hot Lime & Plum Juice, RM 3.20

My dad ordered hot lime and plum juice. It costs RM 3.20. It looks good but I did not try it. My dad did not complain about the drink so I guess it was nice, not too sweet etc.

On an unrelated note, their receipt is printed on hard paper. Well, tougher and feels stronger than the usual receipt papers. Ada quality. ROFLMAO

Drink Tea @ Seri Petaling

Drink Tea "The Healthier Choice."

That's their tagline. This shop is owned by Bubble Cravings.
It is similar to Chatime but for their pearl, they use Roselle pearls.

You can check out some of the drinks and the prices in this picture too :P

They say Roselle:

  • is rich in vitamin C
  • is rich in minerals
  • helps in lowering cholesterol
  • helps to lower blood pressure
  • has anti-aging properties (Psst, Melvin, you might want to check this out)
The three of us, Andrew, Amelia and I went there without Melvin because he was studying for examinations.

I love the colour of the straws :)

When we were there, there was a buy one free one promotion :D but the free drink must be the same drink with the one you paid for.

Chocolate Milk Tea, RM 4. 90

Andrew ordered Chocolate Milk Tea and got one more of the same flavour for free. The chocolate taste for me was the authentic chocolate taste although it is a bubble tea. I didn't get the feeling that it tasted fake. For Andrew, he said the chocolate tasted more natural than the one in Chatime. For Amelia, she said it was between not too artificial and not too chocalatey real.

The Chocolate Milk Tea costs RM 4.90.

Pearl Milk Green Tea, RM 5.90. The pink pearls are the Roselle pearls

Amelia ordered Pearl Milk Green Tea with the Roselle pearls. She ordered one cup to have more sugar than the other to compare both tastes. It costs RM 5.90. The overall taste was so so for us. Amelia does not recommend this.

First off, the Roselle pearls for me was slightly sweet, almost tasteless. However, I personally prefer this over the usual black pearls. For Andrew, he said it was small and tasteless. For Amelia, she said it didn't taste like Roselle for her.

And as all pearls go, you can get tired of chewing them although the Roselle pearls were easy to chew.

For the sugar level, we felt that the cup labelled with less sugar was sweeter compared to the other cup. Maybe they labelled it wrongly. Either way, there was a difference of sweetness.

We sat and chatted until it was near midnight and there were a few people coming in.

Heart Shape Watermelon

Feeling a little thirsty? This is my first time attempt to do this heart shaped watermelon fruit juice with my younger brother, Alfred's help. It is quite easy to do on your own too. I got this idea from somebody's post in Instagram.

Step 1 -Buy watermelon from nearby supermarket & cut watermelon into half.

Step 2- Use chopstick to sketch a heart shape by poking small dots.

Step 3- Use spoon to carve deeper into the watermelon & reshape into heart shape.

Step 4-At first I'm making green apple & watermelon juice but the color is not attractive so I decided to blend half of the red dragon fruits, as shown in the picture above.

Step 5- Pour the juice into the heart of the watermelon.

Step 6 (Final)- Feel free to decorate anything around the watermelon like putting mini umbrella & straws too but too bad my house don't have any of that so I decided put the other half of the dragon fruits to fill the empty space.

After drinking the juice & still left half of the watermelon to eat ! Wahaha =P

Ingredients
-1 Watermelon
-1 Dragon fruit
-1 green apple

Tools
- Spoon
- Chopstick
- Knife

Klang Curry Mee and Steamed Lala

Mmmh! What better meal for a cold weather like this to sip on hot, hot food? For curry mee lovers, this post I dedicate to you.

The last weekend I managed to go back to Klang (my second home) for a reunion with my good friend's sister. Although the time spent was cut short with me exploring Klang in just one day-one night trip, but I managed to grab the opportunity to see Setia City Mall in Setia Alam for the first time. Gawd, I love that place. it has every damn shops I want to shop. This shopping mall is my most complete sanctuary of shopping haven. Someone please bring me there again!

Aside of my obsession for shopping spree (always in the mood if I see something cheap, good and nice), I had my dinner as suggested by my dear friend to have curry mee and steamed lala.
Now, that is something new I hear for Klang food, aside from seafood and dry bak kut teh.

Situated in the Klang city (I think Klang City is a very busy place, especially in the afternoon, at night only you can see 'worker's roaming around for some extra service in the alleys where I'd make silly jokes with my friend if we'd pop their boobies with needles. Gawd. I know. I'm bad. My bad. :p). What I realised about Klang too is that they may have a street or few streets that remind me of Jalan Ampang and Brickfields. Like Little India. Lotsa stuffs going around. Wonder if they have indian banana leaf rice too? :D

Restoran Tsy. Reminds me of Psy. LOL. Wonder if this shop is managed by him, or his brother. Or if he has a brother :p

Photobomb fingers by my friend.

Curry mee for four! Actually this is a medium. You can call for a large one, which I think can fit for 4-5 people. Medium here looks big but there are three big eaters and one small eater so to me I wasn't feeling all that full that night. xD

You have to try this curry. This curry got me sweat face all over! Its spicy, creamy, powdery, hot and everything curry spicy thing going on! I was not a spicy and hot fan few years ago but I opened up to chillies, tom yam, curry and such in time to build up my spice taste buds for more exciting food tasting. Talk about food adventure! All for you readers! Muahaha! Its hard at first because I'd find spicy food so spicy to the extend that I could not breathe properly and once, I accidentally chewed on chilli padi, boy I could not feel my tongue for a good 30minutes. So numb! But now okay lah. Sweat banyak. I got laughed by my friends whom were half Thai-blooded. They're mocking my noob tolerance to spicy-ness. LOL. Oh well, gotta start somewhere ain't I? The curry mee has quite generous portion in terms of their stuffs added, mainly brinjals, long beans, prawns, tau foo pok, taugeh, pari fish, and onions.

Definitely one of the best steamed lalas I have ever tasted. I'm not really good at identifying good seafood because of my unwanted condition of not able to consume seafood, but I made this an exception. The soup/sauce/gravy is amazing. with ginger, garlic, chilli and I think they had some special wine to it and steamed to tender moist and perfection, you can't really stop eating it. The only setback on this dish was my friend's husband complained of the size of the lalas had shrunk tremendously. Also a tip given by him is that lalas must, must be eaten while they are hot and steamy. Sounds sexually explicitly wrong. Hahaha. Oh well, food is something like sex anyway. It is primary, biogenic needs, something that you need to satisfy in order to fulfill the satisfaction, otherwise, may create some uncomfortable tension. LOL. Here I go ranting about the lowest hierarchy of needs in Maslow's Theory. (This is what happens when a fashion student got excited over a marketing subject.)

Both yummy dishes for four that night.

Another shot on the steamed lalas.

They serve very fresh Carrot Milk too! Should try. If there is any sourness to it, insist on changing it immediately as the milk may have turned bad.

All in all, the cost of the overall food is about RM30, which I think was not too bad.

You can find this restaurant at;

Tsy Restaurant, Klang's Claypot Curry Mee
No.16, Jalan Goh Hock Huat, 41400, Klang, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

I think this opens only at night and available till about 12am. I had it around 10pm that night. So much for spiciness late night supper. ;)

P.s: Take note for those afraid of cockroaches, there are some flying ones here, which got me freaked out while eating. I guess it can't be helped with our consistent mates whenever there's good food around. They call it, 'ka liu'. LOL. Just kidd.

Cheers!

Marshmallow Drinks

I'm a marshmallow lover since I was a kid. Maybe it's because my aunt used to buy from overseas to give my family. I love everything from cakes to BBQ marshmallows!

#1 The drink is originally from hot cocoa mix with marshmallows.

#2 You can buy this from Cold Storage Supermarket for RM 13.99.

#3 This is from the original packet from the Marshmallow Classics.

From the picture, it looks like there are less marshmallows from the #1 pic

I used the other packet that I bought from Singapore which is called Marshmallow Fat Free where there's a lot more marshmallow compared to the Classics' version .

You can see the differences in the following picture.

#4 The Marshmallow Fat Free version that I bought in Singapore. The taste is just lighter & the hot cocoa taste is not as strong as the Classics.

#5 I accidentally threw the box away because just left 1 packet in my kitchen. You can see the separate packets for marshmallow and the hot cocoa mix.

#6 Those marshmallows above is from the fat free version. More marshmallows than the classics version.

#7 My younger brother wanted to drink too so he
decided to help me boil the milk. He is a good chef anyway & sometimes he'll cook kim chi soup for me to drink.

#8 I used to boil water to make my drinks but this time I boiled milk to put into the drinks. The difference after all was I just felt so full in the stomach until I didn't eat my dinner.

#9 Left side of the cup is Classics & right side of the cup is Fat Free.

The moment I poured hot milk into the Classics, the marshmallow just melt in seconds. For the Fat Free version, the marshmallows are separated from the cocoa powder so you can dump the marshmallows later.
