Hee Lai Ton Restaurant @ Seri Kembangan, Selangor

It has been a while I didn't come back here for a wedding dinner. All my relatives love to have their wedding dinner here for some reasons. First of all the food is great & so is the location. Invitation mentioned 7pm sharp have to reach there but we reach at 7.30pm & three quarter of the hall is still empty. Ceremony starts at 8.45 & the fish dish reach our table at 9pm. @.@ I'm so hungry just because of the typical Malaysian late culture although it is Saturday.

This is the first dish of the dinner & it looks so grand with a lobster head display at the dish! There is a lobster meat inside the salad . Still can taste the lobster meat although it was covered with mayonaise. The ribs with yam tasted quite good for me .The other dish was spring roll & it was still warm ! Last dish was fish paste with egg yolk & this dish tasted so-so to me. Overall this was one of my most favorite dish in the dinner.

This was shark fin soup & it tasted not too salty for me. It was not real shark fin. Only once I ate real shark fin soup in my whole life which is located at Mandarin Oriental Hotel ,KL. The waitress of the hotel will pour a bowl of shark fin into the pot in front of you. 

This was not an ordinary fish in the deep sea & it is one of the species from Grouper. This was also my favorite dish during the dinner. Most of the meat at this dish was boneless & this made me love it even more xD.

Last 3 years there was a gigantic grouper in the restaurant displayed in the aquarium to let the customer see. I guess this was the kid of the gigantic grouper. LOL. This is the grouper species they serve for my dinner? I think yes! 

Kids favorite dish! I love it when I was young but that night this suckling pig quite fat for me & my family members too, although it is a small pig physically. After a while it feel so disgusting !

This was the additional plate requested from the waiter because in the suckling pig only have 3 onion leaves & is not even enough for a table of 10 people. This onions leaves will be dipped into the sweet sauce. Tasted good for me.

 I'm not a fan of prawns but I did try. The Nestum flakes was too soggy for me & not much taste also. The other half of the plate was deep fried prawn with mayonaise. It tasted like a bigger version salad prawn that are served in dim sum stalls.

This will be the Chinese vegetarian pot. The taste of the mushroom was tasteless for my family members including me & the other dishes tasted normal. Nothing great about this dish. Other tables didn't finish this dish. 

Honey dew sago as dessert instead of "longan sui". Not too creamy for me but I can find a better one.

At this point everyone was full. In the end we didn't finish all so take away half of the plate.

Some potato desserts & doesn't taste nice to me. Still prefer they serve mochi or small pao.

Spot something wrong ? Our table was just beside the open kitchen to reheat dishes! One of the waiters  almost dropped a big soup spoon on my head & luckily I avoided in time. Thank GOD!

Old Sweet House @ Seri Petaling

Decided to try this new shop called Old Sweet House. If I am not mistaken, it used to be Tarik Tarek.

The interior of this shop looked alright. However, when I sat down I found that the table is too high because the chair was low. It was uncomfortable when it came to eating so I hope they change the tables or chairs because the food was good. I would go back but I want to eat in comfort. Hahahaha!

I was spoiled for choice as I flipped their menu. My dad had the same problem too. What to eat? All sounds good. They have some interesting food to me. Got me wondering how it'll look and taste like. The picture below shows you a very, tiny part of the menu.  I feel ulu because I got excited when I saw French Toast with Red Pork -_- and White Pork.

I finally decided to get Mushroom Fish Fillet with Rice. It costs RM 9.90. I love it. The fish fillet was not dripping with oil *thumbs up for me!* The sauce was mushroom sauce, not super salty like the ones I have eaten. Kind of reminded me of soup like Campbell soup. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't but I am not going to insult the chef that day. Heeee. The salad tasted fresh. It did not feel layu. Crunchy. Long story short, I finished it all.

When I went back with my sisters, they ordered this dish too. This time the salad has more colour because they added in carrots. The mushroom sauce was yummmms.

Mushroom Fish Fillet with Rice, RM 9.90

My dad ordered Portuguese Style Fried Rice. It costs RM 10.90. He did not expect the portion to be big so for small eaters like my dad and I, a heads up: share this with someone if you think of ordering this dish. I tasted a bit of this dish and it was yummy too. Inside, there's bacon, capsicum, onions and Portuguese sauce mixed in. The bacon was tasty. Nyam nyam nyam.

It appears that they have a bakery too but I did not check it out because it looked empty. This is a shop where we have to go back a few times to check it out.

During our second visit wit my sisters, my dad ordered Club Sandwich. It costs RM 4.90. I did not taste it. Inside, I saw ham, eggs, tomatoes, cheese, cucumber.. the usual club sandwich. As you can see, it was served with lots of fries. The fries goes well with the mushroom sauce from my mushroom fish fillet rice too.

Nasi Lemak @ Jalan 223 ,Petaling Jaya

One of my friends brought me here to try nasi lemak at midnight. This will be my second time eating nasi lemak at this hours. I have heard of this nasi lemak for quite some time but never bothered to look for it until my friends brought me here.


There will be a lot people starting to get order from you while you are walking into the food court. I counted at least 4 people ask me what I wanted to eat. This place is like another version of Portuguese Settlement in Malacca because someone will approach you to try their stall.

Why this people put so many nasi lemak on my table? Actually there is another person selling nasi lemak at this place. You can see their company name in different ink colours and plate colours are different also.

Nasi Lemak Panas Yati Gerai (red ink), RM 1.50

My friends and I decided to try the Nasi Lemak Panas Yati Gerai (RM1.50) which is in the red ink colour on the packaging. This nasi lemak tasted normal to me but it's very hot & I can see the steam coming out! One of my friend ate 2 packets of the nasi lemak from different stalls & his feedback to me was Suri Nasi Lemak Panas(RM1.50) is spicy. My friend preferred the spicy version than the normal version nasi lemak.

Otak-otak, RM 0.60

You can order some side foods at this food court also like otak-otak (RM0.60 per piece). This will be my first time to try Malay otak-otak & I still prefer the Chinese version. Not to say Malay version otak-otak is not nice but maybe because it tasted like fish paste to me. Two of my friends also said the taste is like fish paste to them. I did try otak-otak from both stalls but the taste for me were still same.

Taufu bakar (RM3 for 2pcs) was sold here too. Overall, this dish tasted good for me but very little vegetables compared to the Chinese version of taufu bakar.

Charcoal BBQ House @ Seri Kembangan , Selangor

My friends brought me here for the second time because first time came here it was closed on Monday for the charcoal bbq. She bought a Groupon deal for this charcoal bbq for only RM35 (4 person)  & additional side order will be less 20%.


The drink was part of the deal. I regretted to order this hot green tea because the staff put too many green tea leaves into the pot until the teapot itself was stuck so cannot pour out. ==.! Order cold green tea is better.


Our dish ordered from the menu to bbq later. Everything tasted alright to me except pork belly, which is at the bottom row, in between the sausages and beef in the picture. We used the pork belly to make the fire bigger in the bbq pit. Hey, it works! XD

We ordered additional meatballs &"kam chin yuk" for bbq. The boss treated us additional ham plus mini sausages also. Grace told me that the meatball is smaller than first served.

K.T.Z Food at SS2

Hi everyone!

Since my last post was on main dishes and covered on local Indian food, this post I am doing ALL ABOUT DESSERTS! Chinese desserts ftw!

Me and my three friends (Andrew, Tyng and Wei Ying) decided to become very adventurous to find desserts after their adventurous attempt to meet me after my work to have pizzeria dinner at Spaghetti Grill in Mid Valley. They waited for me to get changed and had my second round of dinner some more. LOL. (So much of a VIP I am XD )

Andrew suggested to go to SS2, Petaling Jaya to have the famous chinese/fusion style dessert by KTZ Food Restaurant.

So, off we went!

We parked along the parking bay in the area and Andrew told me the RM9.90 Korean Bento Set's restaurant is located nearby as well.

And here we are! We reached KTZ quite late, about 9.30pm and the place is packed! The crowd is overwhelming! Well, at least I find having these kind of desserts as yum cha session is better than spending load for a cup of 'C' brand milkteas. (if you know what I mean.) :p
Their operating hours starts from 12pm-1am, but take a mental note that their best sellers will finish by 9pm so better be early! And they have an interesting way to display their 'sold out' menu, which I will be posting in a bit.
You can briefly see that the restaurant has a rather small inside area and it gets really packed and noisy in just minutes. We were very lucky to get an immediate spot inside, near the windows because the lady boss told us to sit in. They extended their business outside of the restaurant too, just to cater the crowd.

Decorations wise; kept simple with yellow and warm lighting; oriental inspired lamps were adorned along the whole restaurant which gives it a kick of the 1940s China Era like that. Haha.

These wet tissues cost RM0.30 each. No need to use them. Just remember to bring your own tissue.

And its written on their menu. So don't be fooled that it is free when it is not.
Their menu is a little run down, so hope you guys don't mind about that.

Lets flip for choices!

There are many variants and choices you can have, from hot, to cold drinks, desserts (tong suis) and even some finger food. From the Tong Shui menu we chose Black Sesame as recommended by Andrew.

In the Sago Loh series, we picked, of course the Honey Dew Lolo/Loh and also the Mango Lolo/Loh. I don't know why mango has to be more expensive than honey dew by RM0.60 but I guess their mangoes are of premium quality, as tasted. The honey dew tasted bland, and not sweet.

Fine, I will await for the desserts patiently. *grumble grumble*

Voila! Here comes the first two desserts, mainly from the hot series. On the left, it is called Mak Chuk, where it consists of oats and the version varies from different places. This one I tried was not too thick, the sweetness was alright but I have tasted a more gooey and warm and flavorful compared to this Mak Chuk, just down my house. LOL. The black sesame is good on the contrary, very fine bits of sesame, carefully grind to perfection and into the mouth where it melts. Both desserts are best served and eaten while hot, or really warm to get the authentic taste of it.

Next up! The other two desserts! This time it is the cold series. Introducing Mango Lolo and Honeydew Lolo. I'll start off with Mango Lolo. I guess the price has managed to live up to the quality of the mangoes used in this dessert as it is sweet and soft and not too mushy. Although I may prefer my mangoes to be a little more sour side, but this sweet mango concoction is good to compliment the overall sweet taste. Don't be deceived by its overflowing juice at the top with the mango sauce, sago and also chunks of mangoes adorned on the sides, it is in fact just shaved ice beneath it all. But not to worry (as I did), there's more to the delicious sweetness at the bottom of the bowl so don't feel cheated too early. :p As for the Honey Dew Lolo, it was a rather disappointment trail of hope to me as I had looked forward to taste a really good honeydew lolo ever since I got back from Teluk Intan. The honey dew used was bland and not sweet at all, like the fruit is not fully ripe despite its heavy liquified body mass. The milk used was not too great either, making the whole lolo tasted rather, normal. :/ Sadly, I do not recommend this. Although I may have tasted a little more flavor at the end of the dessert, it does not change the fact the honey dew they used was not as good as the mangoes. Precisely as how I would have stated earlier because of its more expensive range amongst the lolos in the menu.

Remember I told you about their interesting way of displaying their sold outs? Here it is. Within an hour the whiteboard has added a few more sold outs from their menu list. So better come early, not too late for a supper dessert
The interior gives it a nice oriental touch, but in overall wise the decoration is just a pass. *sorry Andrew. Caught your face in motion ;D*
The place does not offer wi-fi so don't bother checking in here unless you have data plans, which most people would have. (Rich people. Meh. :p)

All in all, I'd give the place a rather good rating lah, minus on some of the dishes in their menu and the crazy crowd fanatic over this restaurant.

The restaurant charges 6% tax for every dish and you have to make your payment at the cashier as seen at the last picture.
